Is it true than running a mile burns the same amount of calories as walking a mile?
walking just takes longer too burn off the calories?
How much you burn mainly depends on your weight:
For a 128 lbs person —
running 10 min to make a mile burns—-94 cal
walking 20 min to make a mile burns—-44 cal
So running a mile definitely burns more.

that's what i've heard, because it takes a lot longer to walk, so you're burning calories longer.

No. Running burns more calories because you are doing the same motion at a faster pace. Sorry!

No. The amount of calories burned comes from how hard the heart is being exercised. For example if you're ammuned to running and not getting a good heart beat from it, it's best to begin sprinting. The faster the heart pumps, the more calories are there converted to energy.

It depends…If u walkrun then you burn the same amount. If you take a sunday stroll you get half the calories burned and if your lying in bed then your too lazy to loose weight!!!:):)

thats the dumbest thing ive heard today. your pushing your body more to run although it takes longer to walk your not using as much muscle you would when you run..hence you sweat more when you run rather than walking.
walking does burn fat and less muscle while running burns fat and muscle maybe thats what you ment. idk hope this helps

i thought running burned more, but this proves me wrong:
Is it a myth that runners burn more calories than walkers? It just makes sense - all that sweating and huffing and puffing must mean more calories are being burnt, right? Actually, the difference in calories burned per mile or kilometer is very small, and there is no difference at higher walking speeds.
Calories per Mile for 160 Pound Person
Walking
2.0 mph - 91
2.5 mph - 87
3.0 mph - 85
3.5 mph - 83
4.0 mph - 91
4.5 mph - 102
5.0 mph - 116
Running
5.0 mph - 116
6.0 mph - 121
7.0 mph - 119
8.0 mph - 123
9.0 mph - 121
10.0 mph - 131
