is it the same as power walking in terms of calories burnt and overall fitness? sometimes its too cold outside and i want to use my walking exercise fitness glider but not sure how effective this might be to get the same workout as i would during a proper walk outside!
It works for me. I think the swimming idea is good too. When I stop the walking, the weight goes up–so it is important to do it at least 30 minutes a day. I also move my arms back and forth holding heavy objects. Start with 2-3 pounds (1-1.5 kilos) then work your way up to heavier objects if you like.
As to outside walking, you put more pressure on your knees with a walk outside. If you exercise indoors you have less chance of falling, slipping on ice, being mugged, etc.
The most important thing is to move your body at least 30-60 minutes everyday. More if possible. Don't overeat, especially junk foods. Good luck.
